BRIGHTLINGSEA JOG WALK RUN POSTPONED UNTIL 9 OCTOBER
We are deeply saddened to learn the news from Buckingham Palace and we all mourn the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, whose extraordinary commitment to duty and dedication to service were an example and comfort to us all for more than 70 years.
Following consultation with our organisational partners and venue hosts we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the Brightlingsea Jog Walk Run in aid of Essex Air Ambulance, which was due to have taken place this Sunday 11 September, as a mark of respect on the death of Her Majesty. The new date for the event is Sunday 9 October 2022 and all other aspects of the event will remain as originally planned.
We do hope that those of you who intended to compete this weekend will be able to take part on October 9th. If you had entered online already your entry will be automatically transferred to the new date. If you have entered online and are not able to participate on the new date there are two options – A) continue to donate your entry fee to Essex Air Ambulance to support their vital work in our community B) contact our club secretary Fiona Brown on fiona.brown@fionabrown.com who will arrange a refund.
We thank everyone for your understanding and our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family at this most difficult time.
Brightlingsea & District Rotary Club is proud to organise the Brightlingsea Jog Walk Run which is held annually in support of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.
This year the event will take place on Sunday 9 October 2022 starting at 11:00. Registration will open from 10:00 until 10:45 outside All Saints Church and the race will start from just outside the church at the top of Moveron’s Lane, and will follow its traditional course down Moveron’s Lane to Alresford Creek and along the seawall back to Brightlingsea, finishing at the Millennium Gardens just behind Bateman’s Tower.
The course is approximately 4 miles long on a combination of gravel footpaths and country lanes and passes through some spectacular country and riverside scenery. The course is initially gently downhill and then flat making it suitable for all levels of walkers, joggers and runners. Dogs on leads are welcomed but horses and cycles are not permitted. The course is suitable for sturdy buggies.
All funds raised by the event will go to support the work of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance who provide such a vital service to our community and who are entirely dependent on charitable donations. In addition to paying your entry fee competitors are encouraged to also support the charity through individual sponsorship (click here to download a sponsorship form) and/or by encouraging their friends and family to donate in support of your participation. Click here to enter online. (Note – you can also enter on the day at registration 10:00 – 10:45)
