New Covid 19 Safe Format For Brightlingsea Jog Walk Run 2020

Sadly the Covid-19 restrictions and repair work on the seawall mean it will not be possible to run Brightlingsea Jog Walk Run in aid of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance in it’s traditional format or on its traditional course in 2020. So instead the Brightlingsea & District Rotary Club organising team have come up with an innovative new format and course that will still allow people to participate and enjoy a great approx 4 mile tour around the town whilst staying socially distanced.

The format this year will be a Time Trial in which participants can undertake the course between 9am and 5.30pm on a day of their own choosing between Saturday 5 and Sunday 13 September. Participants will be asked to record and submit their own start and finish times.

The new route starts and finishes at Brightlingsea’s famous Bateman’s Tower where parking, public toilets and refreshments are available. From the start you initially hug the shoreline heading round the paddling pool and along the Promenade, through the Marina, past the hard, through the Shipyard Estate and along the sea wall to Underwood’s Hard.  From here you turn inland, passing Hurst Green and into the High Street, then up Richard Avenue and Recreation Way, across the Recreation Ground down Recreation Road and Spring Road and into Springmead Garden. From there your go down Ladysmith Avenue, across Victoria Place, down New Street, along Silcott and finally back to the finish via Promenade Way.

There are various refreshment stops and the route takes in a host of places of interest along the way.  A special version of the route instructions for walkers will be available which will give details of the places of special interest that the children can mark off as they pass them.

Please join us for this fun event and help support the Air Ambulance, which is entirely dependent on public donations and which is so vital to our rural community.
